Whenever I hear that saying I think of the movie My Blue Heaven. Man, that's a great flick. There are so many funny lines in that movie. One of my favorites is "Ehh, she's not my type. I like 'em... I dunno, kinda dirty or something." Anyway, it was quite a crappy day yesterday, and I'm finally recovering today. Everyone in the house was sick, even my dog. Lots of trips to the doctor, and even one to the vet. It seems the older I get the more I have to deal with health issues.
The title says it all. I started to write some long diatribe about how my week at work sucked, only to erase it by accident. Oh well... See, I told you it was a long week. Basically I was writing about:
1. How my experience at the NYOSUG (New York OpenSolaris User Group) was less than stellar because our community speaker was a complete tool... Side note: Thank Dave for providing lots of beer and wine... The audience really needed drinks to make it through that first hour
So on Saturday, I got up at 5am, and went into the office prepared for 48hrs of DR (Disaster Recovery) testing. Most of the test was a success, and we were finished around 5pm. I was glad too, because I either had food poisoning or that darn rotavirus. Whatever it was really knocked me out. I had to try my hardest to prevent myself from vomiting on the ride home from work, and as soon as I got home, I couldn't hold it anymore.
When you're going to move something heavy, like say a SpectraLogic T120 tape library, you should do some proper planning. However life as a Systems Engineer isn't convenient enough that I would have the luxury of time to plan. So I embarked on the task of unracking the tape library, and arranging for it to be shipped by myself. So what does an engineer do when tasked with a "get 'er done" project and no resources? Yep, you guessed it, do a half ass hack to make it work.
Indeed! How do you like the new logo and favicon? Don't like it? Too bad.
So Dennis and Connie were married on Saturday (04/19/2008). The wedding was great, but it didn't go as smoothly as possible. The tuxedos were a mess. We got the tuxes from Men's Wearhouse. There were issues right from the start when I picked up my tux and my son's tux. Apparently almost all of the guys got the wrong shoes. I had the right ones, but it took about 20 minutes of "What color are they supposed to be?" before that got figured out.
So I have officially gone insane and created a blog. God help us all!
