Have you seen the video for the big dog robot? That is totally awesome. It gives me hope that someday we'll be able to emulate real muscle movements and help those who are disabled. It also gives me the creeps and makes me think of The Terminator at the same time. Have you noticed all the news lately about UAVs and machine gun toting robot tanks? It's crazy. We spend more time trying to kill each other than trying to get along. We really are a strange species.
Since I can't have world peace, I'd like to settle for an iPhone. Yeah, that's pretty shallow, but an iPhone I can buy. I'm not sure we'll ever "just all get along". However, in my personal utopia, the iPhone that I want is not on AT&T's network and has an IM client. I would like it on Verizon or Sprint's network. Why? Because I don't want my 3G connection to suck is why. I feel so strongly about it that I'm willing to work with all of these telecommunications companies even though they almost put my previous employer out of business.
I was pretty psyched to see that Apple finally added GPS support and 3G connectivity, and even Microsoft Exchange connectivity to the iPhone. But why did they skip adding iChat? Are they being asked to skip adding an IM client to the phone? Were they under pressure from AT&T and other telecoms to make users use SMS? I can't see any good reason to avoid putting an IM client on the phone. Especially when they are directly targeting Crackberry users. I just hope Steve Jobs doesn't pass. I really like Apple products, especially my iPod.
